You can find detailed information about the number of test questions in each USQE test-based component and the time you will be given to write your test on the Testing Board official website (https://www.testcentr.org.ua/) on the USQE webpage.

Here is what we advise when answering USQE test questions:

• Read each test question carefully, find its key words, and make sure you understand exactly what is being asked.
• First answer all the questions, where you are certain that you know the correct answer.
• Don't waste too much time on questions, where you are not certain of the correct answer.
• First try to think of the correct answer yourself and only then search for it among the answer options.
• If you doubt, which answer is the correct one, try reading all the answer options and discard the less likely ones. Then select the best answer among those that remain.
• Mark your chosen answers in your answer sheet one by one as you go through the test booklet, instead of trying to transfer all your answers to your answer sheet at once at the very end of the exam.
• In your answer sheet, next to the question number, you have to fill the oval with the letter that corresponds to your chosen answer to this question. The oval must be filled COMPLETELY, so that its area is fully colored.
• Pay attention to the question number, so that you would not mistakenly mark your answer next to a wrong question.
• Each correct answer gives you 1 point, while an incorrect answer gives you 0 points. Several answers to one question or no answer are considered an incorrect answer. Even if you don’t know, which answer is the correct one, do not leave the answer box blank. Just choose the answer that seems the best to you.
• Don’t try to do everything in the last moment. Same as with any other exam, if you postpone all your preparations till the last day or the last week, you result may disappoint you.

First of all, examinees must timely arrive at the exam site to avoid stressing over being late. Keep in mind that according to the rules you cannot participate in the exam if you are more than 15 minutes late.

Examinees must leave all the things they cannot take to the exam (bags, phones, earphones, smart watches, audio players, or other gadgets for reading, processing, storing, and reproducing information) in the designated storage place.

Before allowing examinees into the classroom, a National Police officer checks that examinees have no items or gadgets that cannot be taken to the exam. Keep in mind that the examinees, who have such items or gadgets and refuse to leave them in the designated storage place, are not allowed to take the exam and are considered to be absent without a reasonable excuse at the exam. Proctors put such incidents in their reports to the Testing Board.

After passing the check for forbidden items or gadgets, examinees enter the classroom and undergo their identity check in the presence of proctors and school representatives. Here the examinees need to show their valid ID documents that their school has used when registering them for participation in the exam (for Ukrainian students it would be their Ukrainian passport, while for foreign students – foreign citizens and stateless persons – it would be their foreign ID document). Keep in mind that the students, who have not passed the identification procedure, cannot take the exam and are considered to be absent without a reasonable excuse at the exam. All such cases are reported back to the Testing Board.

After passing the identity check, the examinee receives the answer sheet from the proctor and is directed by the proctor to his or her place in the classroom. When all the examinees are seated, the proctor reads the instructions on how to fill out the answer sheets and explains the exam procedure.

Then the sealed container or envelope with the exam booklets is opened and the proctor hands out the exam booklets to the examinees.

After that, the proctor announces the start of the exam and writes down the time of its start and end.

When the time is up, proctors collect the exam booklets and answer sheets. Examinees, who have completed their test before the time is up, can hand over their exam papers to a proctor and leave the classroom earlier.

The full list of reasonable excuses for absence at the exam can be found in “The procedure, terms, and timeframe for development and administration of the Unified State Qualification Exam and criteria for the result assessment”, section 17, subsection 3, adopted under Ministry of Health of Ukraine Decree № 419 (amended), dated February 19, 2019, and registered with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine under № 279/33250 on March 20, 2019.

While the martial law is in effect, students who are staying abroad can take their test-based USQE components in computer-based format at designated test sites near their current location.

Keep in mind that under the abovementioned Procedure the examinees, who were absent at the exam, must personally or via their schools provide the Testing Board with reasons for their absence at the exam and present the documents that confirm their stated reason within three workdays after the date of the exam.

Yes, they can. Students of interns, who are internally displaced persons, can take their exams at the exam sites near the places of their current temporary residence.

To do this, a student or an intern must no later than two months before the date of the exam notify their school that they would be taking their test-based USQE components at the place of their temporary residence.

The school will, in turn, send this information to the Testing Board, so that the Testing Board could take it into account, when forming the lists of examinees (students and interns) by exam site.

Systematic learning and revising your course material is the best guarantee for successfully passing your USQE tests. The list of topics included in the exams for each specialty can be found published on the Testing Board official website.

Additionally, the Testing Board has created an online Training Module with selection of test questions that can be used by students and interns in preparation for their exams. The Training Module allows students and interns to self-assess their preparedness for the exams. The format of test questions in the Training Module is as close as possible to the actual tests you will be writing when taking your exams.

The Training Module is regularly updated with new sample test questions.

Before introducing new exams (USQE components) that would be mandatory for a specialty or an academic program, the Testing Board conducts pilot testing of such exams, as required under “The procedure, terms, and timeframe for development and administration of the Unified State Qualification Exam and criteria for the result assessment”, section 3, paragraph 4, adopted under Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Resolution № 334 (amended), dated March 28, 2018.

During pilot testing of an exam, examinees must take this exam, but they will not be expelled from their schools if they fail the exam that is currently at the stage of pilot testing.

Yes, you would. But on the condition that your school has provided the Testing Board with reasons for your absence at the exam and presented the documents that confirm the stated reason for your absence within three workdays after the date of the exam.

Students and interns, who could not attend their exams for any of the USQE test-based components and have a reasonable excuse for their absence (properly confirmed with the documents), are granted one additional exam session, the date for which is decided by the Testing Board.

It can be arranged. If examinee’s health condition requires additional accessibility arrangements for the exam, his or her school will have to present the conclusion issued by a healthcare facility about the need for additional accessibility measures to the Testing Board, when registering such a student for the exam. The Testing Board can provide additional accessibility for the examinees, who may need assistance for filling out their answer sheets or require the exam booklet being read aloud for them, etc.

A student or an intern will need to contact his or her school to resolve this issue. Based on the name change documents, the school can provide the Testing Board with information necessary for changing the examinee’s registration data. This information will be taken into account by the proctor, when performing ID check.
